Morgan Heart Hospital at Morton Plant marries award-winning cardiovascular care with a state-of-the-art facility. The $52 million facility has four surgical suites, four cardiac catheterization labs, two cardiac electrophysiology suites and 90 patient rooms. Each area of Morgan Heart Hospital has been designed with the help of our physicians and nurses to act as a high-tech hub for the delivery of patient-focused care. The integration of all cardiology services in a centralized location saves time and provides added convenience for patients and their families.
One patient room, many patient benefits
Morgan Heart Hospital patients recovering from open-heart surgery recuperate in one room during their entire stay. Traditionally, patients recover in different units throughout the hospital after open-heart surgery. With our universal bed concept, patients do not have to be moved from one area to another during their stages of recovery. This provides greater convenience, comfort and safety for our patients, their families, and our doctors and nurses.
In addition to the universal bed, each of our 21 private rooms has beautiful accommodations, including wood floors and many with views of the Intracoastal Waterway. Mirrors have been strategically placed within each room to optimize the water view while the patient is confined to the bed. Additionally, each room has Wi-Fi Internet access, climate control, refrigerators, and sleeper chairs for family members. Medical equipment is stored in wood cabinets when not in use. These special touches make each hospital room seem more like home and less like a hospital room.
Visitors welcome anytime
We realize that the support of family and friends is instrumental in the recovery of our patients. That’s why we designed dedicated waiting areas in Morgan Heart Hospital for family and friends of our heart patients. These areas are equipped with televisions, comfortable furniture, and Wi-Fi Internet access and data ports. To improve access for the family, we have 24-hour visitation, and one family member can share a room with the patient.
We also offer CarePages – a secure, dedicated Web page created by the patient or loved one. The customized CarePage can be updated as often as you like with news and photos, and friends and family can send messages of love and support to the patient.
High-tech treatment rooms
Morgan Heart Hospital has four high-tech operating room suites. Each operating room has digital technology that allows our surgeons and staff to deliver the best possible care to the patient.
For patients having outpatient procedures, the new heart hospital has four cardiac cath labs, two cardiac electrophysiology rooms and 10 dedicated beds for outpatient diagnostic cardiac cath patients. Families wait in dedicated areas on the same floor as the procedure rooms.
